OTC Reception

4 May 2005 Houston Branch Reception

Report

The SUT Houston evening reception was the place to see and be seen during the week of OTC 2005, in Houston, Texas. The party was held on May 4 at the Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel. The food and drink were free flowing and enjoyable music was played by Shotgun and the Bayou Dawgs, a local rock and roll blues band.

Christopher Lindsey-Curran (pictured), Chairman of the Houston Branch of SUT, addressed the crowd and thanked the many SUT members who have worked to help make the Branch successful.

He also congratulated last year's three SUT scholarship recipients, and spoke about their plan to award more scholarships this year. Christopher also expressed gratitude to Fugro Geos for its generous donation of one $5,000 undergraduate scholarship to be awarded along with the regular scholarships this autumn.

All were honored with the presence of Her Majesty's Consul General Judith Slater and her husband. Ian Gallett, Executive Secretary of SUT Head Office in the UK, and his wife were also honored guests.

There was broad representation from the oil and gas industry. Ian Ball, who is retiring from Shell this month, was in attendance. Among the members of the BP community were Mark Siegmund, Dave Brooks, David Walker and Barbara Fagan. James Pappas of Devon Energy was also present for the festivities.

The evening was a great success and enjoyed by all who attended.
