Presentations
A New Generation of ILI Tool Designed for Risers and Un-piggable Subsea Pipelines
Steve Banks, Subsea Integrity Group
The SIG ILI tool is tethered unit that can access complex pipeline or riser systems and inspect for corrosion using guided wave ultrasonics and phased array techniques for cracking. It works against the flow, so there is no need to stop production, and minimal or no cleaning is required.
The Design and Development of the Orion INS Ring Laser Gyro Compass System
Simon Jordon, Chief Design Engineer, TSS International
The presentation describes the development of the Orion Inertial Navigation System, a product designed completely by TSS. It makes use of three separate single axis ring laser gyros and accelerometers which outputs very accurate heading, heave, roll, pitch, surge, sway also raw X, Y, Z IMU data strings.
Telepath® – Remote Leak Location in Subsea Umbilicals
David Riddell, Sales Engineer, Brinker Technology Ltd
Leaks in subsea umbilicals are highly problematic as they are difficult to locate and the eventual egress of fluid may be a considerable distance from the actual line failure due to the presence of additional outer sheaths. Telepath® locates leaks through a combination of analytical and numerical monitoring, without the need for DSV operations. This technology can be used either as part of a contingency approach for new installations or as part of an emergency response in the event of a leak.
Non Intrusive Pressure Measurement of Pipelines and Risers
Derek McCann, Senior Project Engineer, Insensys
Non intrusive pressure measurement on pipelines and risers has a number of advantages especially on older assets where the retrofit capability allows remedial and maintenance operations. The presentation looks at the sensors, the technology and some subsea applications.
Low Cost USBL Systems and Underwater Radio Products
Maurice Fraser, International Business Development, Tritech International Ltd
From the dark science of our core acoustic modem product technology, Tritech will soon launch the very latest in low cost spread spectrum USBL tracking systems and a brand new range of underwater modem products using electromagnetic technology. Discover more about how and why we were able to diversify into these exciting new branch technologies and the lessons learned on the way.
Innovative ROV Tooling for Decommissioning Operations
Norse Cutting and Abandonment Ltd
The presentation looks at three innovatibe tools developed for decommissioning operations on the Frigg Field, including external abrasive cutting tools (ECTs), subsea guillotine saws (SGS) and hydraulic hole saw (HHS).
The Development of Novel Radioisotope Inspection Techniques to Allow Determination of Oil Levels within Submerged Tankers and the Integrity of Subsea Structures
Dan Benson, Regional Sales Manager, Tracerco
This presentation gives details of recent tests that have been performed to prove the ability of backscatter devices based on isotope technology, and the application of subsea backscatter devices to determine the integrity of subsea structures using a case study.
