Testing and Monitoring a Marine Renewable Energy Device
Paul McKeever, Electrical Engineering Specialist, Narec
The Oyster Power Take-Off (PTO) system was developed and tested by Narec, (a national centre dedicated to accelerating the deployment and grid integration of renewable energy and low carbon technologies) on behalf of Aquamarine Power, between 2007 and 2009. As well as describing the Oyster PTO system, the aim of this presentation is to demonstrate the rationale and some of the detail behind the testing and instrumentation of a marine renewable energy device using Oyster as a prime example.
