Overview

The SUT and ASEG presented its 1st International Seminar on Geophysics and Geohazards on 25 March 2010 in Perth in conjunction with the Australian Oil and Gas (AOG) Exhibition.

Geophysical methods are a key means for identifying geohazards in the marine environment. Whether drilling a wildcat or installing a wind turbine, engineering geophysics provides for an effective assessment of the potential risk for subsea operations.

This one-day workshop was designed to appeal to operators, contractors, consultants and academics, and brought to the forefront the importance of understanding geophysical methods, their strengths and weakness. It demonstrated the power of well designed surveys and data integration.
